Mayor Les Peterson said he had misspoken previously. Based on rumors at the time, he had been under the impression that Cafe Bink was operating under new ownership. To set the record straight, he read a statement from the Cafe's General Manager. "Kevin Binkley is excited to welcome his new partner, Chef Justin Olsen, to Cafe Bink. Justin has worked with Kevin for several years in each of his restaurants. He brings new ideas and everyday specials to the Cafe's menu. He joined Kevin in this venture in December and they look forward to a long and successful partnership." The Mayor welcomes the continued presence of Kevin Binkley in our community.
(Lyn's note: Herbert and I are good customers of Cafe Bink, and if anything, it is even better than before. Chef Justin is doing a fabulous job!)

During Call to the Public, Robert Jacobsen again spoke of his concern about trees and signs in the roadways and he requested a meeting with the full Council to discuss it again. The Mayor explained that the entire Council cannot legally meet outside of a noticed meeting that is open to the public. He told Mr. Jacobsen that his concerns had been addressed, and had been reviewed internally. The Mayor said he would contact him again.

During Current Events, Mayor Peterson announced that the Sunday Concerts in the Gardens series is experiencing very strong participation. Vice Mayor John Crane and Councilmen Mike Farrar and Jim Van Allen have been there and have been getting good reactions from the people attending.

Councilman Van Allen asked MCSO Lt. Todd Hoggatt to come forward and introduce himself.

Gary Neiss updated the Council on the status of the tenant improvements for the new Council Chambers at 33 Easy Street. A late September or early October move-in date was anticipated, but some delays have been encountered with the design team. The contract was issued the month before to the architect, who is the project manager. He and the various engineers and interior designers are all engaged in larger projects, so the plans are taking longer than expected. The new target date is November or December. Councilman Gene Orrico said it would be their Christmas present. Mayor Peterson said he would like to hold an open house during the Christmas in Carefree festival so everyone would have a chance to see it.
Mr. Neiss noted that budget workshop meetings would be held the following 2 Tuesday nights. The first one, on the 18th, would be a general overview of the budget as a whole and an overview of the marketing budget specifically, since several Council members had wanted more information about it. At the second workshop, on the 25th, the line item budget would be discussed.
