Mike Johnson, president of the Provence HOA, said he was there to represent their Association on the water acquisition taking place. Provence represents 25 of the 526 homes that are very much looking forward to being hooked up to the Town's water system. They have been there since 2004 and are very anxious to move on. They can't remember the last time a fire hydrant was flushed in their neighborhood, and they are not good with that. He was there to thank the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and the Council members for all their efforts in this acquisition. "We believe that you have done thorough due diligence, hired top notch consultants, and put a stellar board together to study this issue. We think the move to move forward and acquire these accounts is the right and fair thing to do for the community and all of the people who are left hanging out there. We all know the reasons, and there is no need to rehash them. I'm here as a note of encouragement."

I said that Councilman Gene Orrico has stated that he opposes the Town's attempt to provide an assured water supply for the Carefree residents and businesses that are currently being serviced by the troubled Cave Creek Water Company because he "doesn't want to pay for their water". We also heard that he, John Traynor, and Glenn Miller have stated their intention to initiate a recall attempt on several of Mr. Orrico's fellow Council members who support bringing the Carefree Service Area of the Cave Creek Water Company onto Carefree Water. I asked if this is true, and said I certainly hope it's not. Mayor Peterson reminded Councilman Orrico that during Call to the Public, Council members are not required to answer questions.

Bob Schenkel said he wanted to clarify the misunderstanding of his criticism of the water department's handout in the billing statement last time when discussing the merger of the water company and the Town, and the associated costs nobody knows about yet, or that is not public information, goes back to the December 4th, 2018 Council meeting where the Mayor stated about moving the water company into the Town operations. It was put out on a blog that increased costs still to be determined said preliminary numbers suggest it will not be significant. He didn't know where the blog got that information when it is still in negotiations. He has no numbers, so can't say whether he is for or against it, or how it's going to affect the current users or the Town.
