Residents of Carefree

During the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to meet with many Carefree residents at our Post Office. Carefree residents are kind, polite, and articulate. Our conversations confirmed the impressions I have had of Carefree over the last 7 years of living here. It is a wonderful town with special people. I have had the opportunity to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission and its connected committees (the Board of Adjustment, the Development Review Board, and the Economic Development Advisory Board). It is evident from attending the Town Council meetings that our residents love their town and they want transparency in government. They are clear in expressing what pleases them and what concerns them. They value specific answers to their questions – whether those answers require a more complete understanding of Carefree’s water resources or an explanation of the town’s budget. At the same time, they are anxious about traffic patterns, speeding, insufficient stop signs, and visibility of other general signage around town. They appreciate prompt action on these concerns. While they understand that some change is an inevitable part of life, they want their leaders to ensure that the character and the spirit of the town are preserved.
I share these assessments and values. If elected to Town Council, I will do my best to reflect them in my actions on the Council. I look forward to securing a bright future for our town, maintaining its special character, assuring a healthy financial position, and anticipating future needs.
