Dear Lyn,
Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery presented a very compelling case at the Kiwanis meeting earlier today to vote against Prop 205 which would legalize recreational marijuana in Arizona. Attorney Montgomery referenced the negative experience of legalizing recreational marijuana in Colorado and Washington as support for his point of view, and the far less restrictive provisions of the proposed Arizona Prop when compared to those passed by residents of the two states just mentioned.
Mr. Montgomery suggested the website www.ARDP.org to learn more about the reasons not to support Prop 205. I would suggest a thorough review of this website to anyone interested.

(Lyn's note: For those who missed it, here's Herbert's Pumpkin Festival video that appeared in Monday's Carefree Truth issue: https://vimeo.com/188482420)
Went to look at the Enchanted Pumpkin exhibit and loved the fantastic, imaginative use of the pumpkins. This man really has a sense of humor and wonderful talent.
I LOVED Herbie’s video of the Enchanted Pumpkin Garden so much. Going there this evening to see it all lit up. It is fun in the day time but the magic of lights will make it doubly so. I watched Ray at work for a while, he is the most unassuming person and bursting with creativity and talent. And Herbie captured the magic so well.
I really hope one day you can talk him into coming to my house and snapping a few pictures of the kitties. They have grown so much and are so lovely but I just cannot capture them well at all. And he is a master at getting just the right picture.
Hope I will see you soon.
Pax,

Here's a comment from a local friend to whom I sent Herbie's pumpkin video:
"We went on Saturday night...girls loved it. Ray was there and we took lots of pictures. Thanks so much for telling me about this event!"
Kathy Riemer
Great video. Patti and I took a walk around yesterday. I had been there on 10/17 when they were getting started.
I loved the expression of the one in the outhouse! Good choice for your cover message. The saloon was great from the card player inside, to the one being thrown out, plus Miss Boa on the balcony.
Arthur Gimson
Great video showing all the fun and excitement at the pumpkin festival. Thank you for putting this together.

We just got in from going there with the dogs. It was very crowded tonight. We were hoping the Lobster Roll food truck was there, but it wasn't. Tonight they had a taco truck, waffles, a tater truck (I'm assuming potato items) & ice cream. We didn't end up eating anything tonight. Last night I had a pumpkin cheesecake crepe, it was great.
I pretty much go each night to walk the dogs. So I have been watching the progress over the weeks. So lucky to have him.
The video is great. Thank you for sharing.
I love living in Carefree. I feel so blessed.

Was there last night - Much added - It all did look great.
Joe DeVito
Excellent, nice job!
Larry Holland
Love it!

Great video Lyn and Herbert! Shared it on Bosco's Biscuits FB page🐕

That's really good. I've tried to go to the SW "antique" guy with whom I've consigned some stuff, twice in the last few days. Parking is impossible. In this case that's a good thing.
Kathy Riemer
I first thought it was a film, then I watched it again to see if Herb switched to movies, but I realized that it is still photos put together with music. Great job; it's beautiful!!!
Kunio Hagio
(Lyn's note: It was some of each. He did the kid carving the pumpkin with the camera in burst mode, and did Ray carving in video mode for contrast. FYI, Kunio is now retired but he was to commercial illustration what Ray is to pumpkins and sand.)
Loved it! Not as good as being there, but fun nonetheless. Brought a big smile----Thank you!
