Friends and Neighbors,
Each year Executive Director Pam DiPietro and I work on soliciting TAX CREDIT donations as an important funding source for the Food Bank.
I have supported the Foothills Food Bank Tax Credit program for a number of years.
In doing so, I am able to direct where my tax dollars are spent and at the same time I’m supporting the work the Food Bank does for our community.
The Food Bank has been serving families for over 25 years and our tax dollars will enable Pam and the many volunteers to continue to benefit our community.
Best regards,
Reg Monachino

Hi Lyn,
We fully agree with and support Darlene Goodman’s request for creating an off leash dog park in Carefree. When we moved to Carefree four years ago, we were disappointed to learn that the closest park that we could let our dog run off leash is quite a distance, at Horizon Park around Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd and the 101.
We appreciate any suggestions or insights on how we can formally voice our support for an off leash dog park in Carefree.
As many apartment, townhome, condominium and single family home owners and visitors have small and large dogs alike, an off leash dog park would be of great benefit to Carefree. Those who are not able to let their dogs off-leash to run or who are unable to leash walk their dogs would be able to visit a community park to socialize and give their pets a safe place to exercise.
As an example of what we think is a positive community benefit, Highland Park, IL enjoys several off-leash dog parks, requiring dog owners to register their dogs/dog tags and purchase a dog park membership:
Membership Fees
· 2017 Resident: $50 first dog ($25 each additional dog). Early Bird Discount*: $40 first dog; $20 each additional dog. Must provide 2016-17 City of Highland Park dog tag number.
· 2017 Nonresident: $150 first dog ($75 each additional dog). Early Bird Discount*: $140 first dog; $70 each additional dog. Must provide current rabies vaccination tag number. A parking sticker will be provided for use of Moraine Beach dog park.
The parks department randomly checks for the park permits to ensure that dogs are properly registered and healthy. Any dogs who are aggressive or pose a threat to people or other dogs are removed and banned from the park. A full description of the parks and respective amenities and rules can be found at: http://www.pdhp.org/dog-exercise-areas/
We would be willing to help research and drive the initiative to explore options for a dog park.
Thank you for any suggestions you may have for our involvement.
Best,
Gretchen and Jim Stegall
