Mr. Johnny Basha
Sr. Vice President Real Estate and Vice Chairman, Basha’s Inc.
Dear Johnny,
Just a quick note to thank you on behalf of Carefree voters (and voters from the surrounding communities as well) who deeply appreciated the free bottle of water as they waited in line today at the Carefree Town Offices to vote in the national election. We offered a bottle of water out to each prospective voter in line, and told them that they were receiving it courtesy of Basha’s.
A special thanks to your Carefree Basha’s Store Manager, Dan, for his immediate response to our request. We are delighted to see that the newly remodeled store in Carefree is being so well received by residents from throughout the Foothills both through the attractiveness of the remodeled facility and the personal service of your employees like Dan.
Let’s get together soon, as we talked.
Best regards,
Mayor Les Peterson
Town of Carefree, Arizona
A very nice gesture on the part of Basha’s. The Town would have made such an offer to prospective voters but we are precluded by election laws from offering any type of an incentive or gift at Polling places.
Thought you would like to know.
Mayor Les Peterson
Hi Lyn:
Thanks for the Veterans Day promo. I spent the entire afternoon working on this and there’s more to do tomorrow. It’s coming together nicely.
Best regards,

Hello friends of our Town. Our Christmas Festival is coming up December 9th - 11th. If we haven’t worn you out with The Pumpkin Festival we could sure use your help again with the Christmas Festival.
We need volunteers for both the Kids Zone and the Parade. Below is a description of the areas where we need help and there is a link online to sign up. We appreciate your support.
The Kids Zone is a popular area for families and children and is FREE. It is OPEN 10am-9pm Friday & Saturday and 10 am -5pm on Sunday. It consists of the snow slide, 2 bounce houses and Santa's workshop. We will need volunteers to help run the snow slide (4 total per shift to keep kids safe and to ensure orderly conduct in the line). The Bounce houses require 2 people per shift to man the entrance and the exit and making sure kids stay safe while in the house. We also need 2 elves per shift that are willing to wear "elf" garb and help Santa in his Grotto.
Here’s the LINK to the KIDS ZONE sign-up sheet for the Carefree Christmas Festival:

The Electric Light Parade, held Saturday at 6 p.m. is a big part of the festivities during the 3 day Festival. We are in need of volunteers to help it run smoothly. We need help pre-staging, de-staging and parade route crowd control.
Date: 12/10/2016 (Sat.)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Dear 2016 Pumpkin Team!
I can’t express the amount of gratitude I have for your individual efforts and team work during the festival this year. Each of you have contributed in your own “special” way so that we could create another memorable event for so many children, families, residents and local businesses. We should be proud of our team accomplishments and it’s only our second year of taking this idea to the next level! The event has become contagious (in a good way).
Some of you may be tired and feeling like some of those rotten pumpkins we tossed a few days ago, but rest assured, we continue to make progress and move forward for the future of our boutique Town of Carefree. The media attention we have received, as well as over 54,500 visitors to our pumpkin website in 31 days and the estimated crowds of over 55,000 have been overwhelming. I have hundreds of photos to go through and a recap meeting to attend to, so I anticipate a full break-down by early December.
Please also note that your “random acts of kindness” during the festival have not gone unnoticed. Sometimes it’s the little things that really do make a BIG difference. I know the carved pumpkins thank the Carefree Fire Fighters for coming over every night to put the pumpkins to bed in the local garden pond J
Check out our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CarefreeEnchantedPumpkinGarden/ for a synopsis of the event and our fabulous sponsors if you have not already. We had over 2,000 people follow us in just the 6 weeks of having it created.
Another knock-out year for the Pumpkin Garden!!!

Gina,
I wanted to say thank you for all your hard work and coordination of a fabulous event. I know many of us restaurant owners were nervous about the food trucks but they did not seem to effect us at all and I think they were needed to help round out the event.
This event brings a tremendous amount of focus to Carefree and displays the town in the way we want it to be displayed, highlighting the beautiful gardens and flow of the town center.
Thank you for all your hard work.

Gina, we all owe gratitude to YOU for all your hard work, innovation and dedication to making the Pumpkin Garden and our community the best it can be.
Thank you for all that you do.
Katie & the YMCA team.
What a fantastic event. Ray Villafane and his crews made some amazing displays. There is nothing even remotely like it in the valley. Creativity on steroids!
It is great to see the Town Council and staff put on such a wonderful event that introduced many new visitors to our town. With the Enchanted Pumpkin Festival, Carefree Christmas Festival and the other prestigious events in Town, we are becoming a valley destination.
Great job to all involved!

Hi Lyn,
The 2nd annual Enchanted Pumpkin Garden was absolutely spectacular and many, many thanks and kudos go to Mayor Peterson, the Carefree Town Council, Gina Kaegi, and certainly to Ray Villafane and his crew, and the many others who made this happen. It was a huge party in the Carefree's gardens every night for a couple of weeks culminating in a spectacular Halloween weekend. What a great way to meet up with friends, relax, and take our minds off of the current, never ending negative election season, and immerse ourselves in a whimsical fantasy world for a little while. Can't wait for the Carefree Christmas Festival! Love Carefree! Martha and I have been here 15 years and It just gets better and better!

Thank you Gina for an AMAZING job!

I would be thrilled to have Herbie burn ANY AND ALL his scenes from the pumpkin celebration. I trust his judgement. He did several-I love them all.
You both R such a major asset to Carefree-and both R so loveable—-
GOD BLESS U BOTH.
HUGS,
LORAINE
(Lyn's note: Loraine requested some of Herbert's photos so she could print them. He's burning them to a disc for her. Gina told us that ABC actually used some of them that were on the Carefree website. Cool!)
The Enchanted Pumpkin Garden was not only magnificent, it was a one of a kind event.

Great photo of you and Loraine.

Dear Friends,
Just to let you know Paola and Jan Sevela have sold the Cafe. After 24 years it is time to hang it up and give a chance to young blood.
New owners of Sundial Cafe are Shawn and Rhonda Jaynes and they are looking forward to this adventure.
Thank you for your support and for all you do for our community.
Best Regards
