Below please find the base letter which I sent to the group leaders of each of the 37 groups which marched in the Christmas in Carefree Parade on Saturday morning, 12/9.
Thanks to you and Herbie for all the two of you do for Carefree.
Best regards, and Happy New Year
Mayor Les Peterson
Dear (Group Leader’s name),
Thank you for the enthusiasm of your group as they participated in the “Christmas in Carefree” Parade this past Saturday morning. Hopefully, participation in the parade was as enjoyable for your group as viewing the Parade was for others.
We have received many positive comments from people in attendance at the parade. They told us it was a joy to watch and that it helped to get them in the spirit for the Christmas Holiday Season. Your group certainly made a significant contribution towards achieving that result.
Please accept, and pass on to the other members of your group, the gratitude of the Town of Carefree for the contributions of all of you. We appreciated your participation.
All of us on the Carefree Town Council and the Carefree Town Staff wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Best regards,
Mayor Les Peterson

Lyn,
Below please find the four written responses we received to our “Thank You” letters for participating in the Christmas in Carefree Parade on December 9th, which we sent out on December 12th.
In addition, after these written responses from parade participants, after the parade participant comments, please find a copy of the letter we received from MCSO. After strong comments from MCSO in recent years pointing out to the Town the dangers of a parade at night, with viewers walking back to their vehicles - some of which were parked a considerable distance away, MCSO’s response to Gary Neiss this year was a comforting “The whole event ran very smooth with zero issues. Very well planned and executed!!”
Thanks again,
Mayor Les Peterson
Our students had a fantastic time!

(Lyn's note: Comments on the Carefree Christmas Festival reports)
The Rabbi’s speech was exceptional – as was all of Sunday evening. I’m sure this will be a tradition. On another evening the prayer leader spoke of the freedoms enjoyed in America. Like many of the religiously oppressed who have come to the US to enjoy liberty, the Jews were oppressed even in their earliest days. I did not know that, although I knew the Romans were always giving the Jews a hard time or worse.
Best regards,
John Crane
Thanks Lyn and Herb for the report on the Christmas Festival. Bobbie and I really enjoyed it. It’s come a long way since the first one.

We were in Corrado’s Saturday night. We arrived about 5:45 and left maybe just before 7 PM. We sat at the bar, had a drink and an appetizer and then walked the gardens. You are right, the lights are beautiful this year. That is why we went into town – to see the lights and kick off Christmas.
Best regards,
John Crane
A special wish out to you and Herbie for a healthy and prosperous New Year. Thank you for your continual coverage of our events in Carefree! Your contributions and patronage to our local businesses is priceless.
