Lyn's note: Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included. If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category. We have a special section for that purpose. If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations. Here is the link to this week's Pictures of the Week.

Hi Phyllis,
Just to finish-up and complete the loop on the information I committed to provide you, both Rural/Metro and Sonoran Networks have submitted calculations to me on their Radio Frequency (RF) exposure numbers. Here is a summary of the information from all 3 users:
Maricopa County
Frequency: 750 to 802 MHz
Max. Power Output: 140 Watts
Calculated RF Exposure (max.): 0.7 W/m2
FCC RF Exposure Limit: 5.17 W/m2
% of RF Exposure Limit: 14%
Rural/Metro
Frequency: 154.4 MHz
Max. Power Output: 45 Watts
Calculated RF Exposure (max.): 0.068 W/m2
FCC RF Exposure Limit: 2.0 W/m2
% of RF Exposure Limit: 3.4%
Sonoran Networks
Frequency: 5 GHz
Max. Power Output: 0.339 Watts
Calculated RF Exposure (max.): 0.373 W/m2
FCC RF Exposure Limit: 10 W/m2
% of RF Exposure Limit: 3.7%

As I discussed below, an aggregation of these numbers is not a simple nor even defined process for the following reasons (and there may be more):
· The FCC RF Exposure Limits are for specific frequency bands or ranges. Aggregating numbers between the various bands (ranges) produces a number that really has no meaning because the RF exposure limits, as far as I can tell, have never been aggregated together.
· The calculated RF exposure for each user is specific to a certain spot/location which is typically conservatively high for that user. The RF exposure level at that same spot from the other 2 users is likely to be much lower than their calculated numbers presented here because exposure levels decrease significantly with increased distance from an antenna.
Nevertheless, if you do a simple mathematical aggregation of the RF Exposure Limit Percentages (which is very conservative and really non-defensible based on the reasons above), the total for Silver Saddle is: 14% (County) + 3.4% (Rural/Metro) + 3.7% (Sonoran Networks) = 21%. This is a very low aggregate percentage that, based on FCC regulations, indicates very low exposure risk to the general population.
Hope this helps answer your questions. Thanks for your interest in this project. The Carefree Water Company is excited that we can be part of this project that improves Police and Fire protection for our community as well as wireless internet service.
Sincerely,
Greg Crossman

Greg, thanks for tracking this information down, I truly appreciate it. Studies on the health impact of this type of radiation are still evolving, but at least now we have a sense for what the anticipated exposure is, and a baseline for the town’s future monitoring.

MEDICARE SCAM
This is pretty important to get to people with Medicare, their families and friends or adult kids who help parents with Medicare. Here's what you need to know to protect yourself, family and friends throughout the US.
Starting 4/1/18 Medicare will start a year long project to replace all current Medicare cards for beneficiaries to convert to alphanumeric ID numbers. Currently the ID number is your social security number. This is starting to hit the media.
Scammers are opportunistic - First of all the new Medicare card will come to you in the mail. You don't need to request it or do anything. It will show up.
WHAT'S THE SCAM?
Somebody from "MEDICARE " will call to tell you you are getting a new Medicare card. But until it comes you will need a temporary card. Fee for the card is between $5-50 dollars. They want personal information, bank account or credit card so they can process your temporary card.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
Medicare will never call you unless you ask them to. Medicare does all communications by mail unless you ask them to call. Ditto for anybody saying they "work with Medicare to make sure you get everything you are entitled to" .
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THIS ONE?
First of all spread the word. Feel free to share these notes. Use your answering machine to screen calls or just don't even answer a number you don't recognize. If it has happened to you or your friends or loved ones and personal info had been given out (happens considerably more often than you think so don't feel bad or stupid ) immediately take action to protect yourself against identity theft.
