How high will this Building Be? Will it be blocking views. Eastwood homes blocks a lot of views😞
Maggie
(Lyn's note: The self storage units building was approved for 30', which is Carefree's standard for commercial buildings. Unfortunately, everything that gets built blocks views, but this section came to Carefree as commercial in County's General Plan, and the Lowe's center was developed as such. This is the last parcel in that development. Downgrading a property without the owner's consent is considered a taking, and is illegal in Arizona.
A portion of the property where Eastwood was built was in the General Plan and zoning as Garden Office, and would have been another big office complex center, like the one beside it. That would have blocked views even more.)
Lyn,
The wood stork looks great at the top of this newsletter! I wonder how many people thought it showed up somewhere at the Block Party?

(Lyn's note: Hazel took the photo of the stork while visiting Florida.)
Glad you had a good time participating in the Dunk Tank festivities. The money keeps coming in and our total donation to the Library is approaching $500 now. Thanks for being the “Queen of the Dunk Tank”!!

P.S. Loved Herbie's photos of the Block Party.
Lyn:
Fun to read about the block party. Sadly, it conflicted with the season’s final home game of the Arizona Coyotes. I wished I could have been there to throw a few balls at the dunk tank.
In looking at the photos, it was nice to see one of Phil and Marian Abramowitz manning (or should it be manning and womanning) the Foothills Caring Corps booth. It could not have been more appropriate since they were honored the following Monday (April 9) as the Caring Corps’ Humanitarian of the Year award. They were doing what they have been doing for years…volunteering to make a better community.

Hi Lyn, great comments from citizens on this weekend. Really appreciate all that you do to keep us on top of what's going on around town.

Lyn,
I must echo the Mayor Peterson’s comments on our Community Block party, it was an excellent event that showcased many of our community businesses and brought a refreshing energy to our downtown and connected ourselves with our neighbors. Maybe next year, we can fully contain the Block Party within the garden area so as not to block Easy Street’s main thoroughfare, as well as the affected merchants. Nevertheless, overall it was a wonderful event, and my hopes are we can have many more of these throughout the year. In addition, the Trolley was re-routed as well to bring in the many visitors from Cave Creek with an added stop near the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion.
Thank you.

(Lyn's note: This past weekend, Councilmen Mike Farrar and Gene Orrico organized, and Corrado's hosted, the Italian Festival in Carefree. Below is a short video with some of the highlights.)
