Dear Lyn,
Five hundred and twenty-six homes in Carefree do not have reliable long-term water service. These homes are all serviced by the Cave Creek Water Company, which has significant clouds on its long-term water supply horizon.
We can correct this situation now for these Carefree residents, before the effects of the existing drought, a limited water supply, a Cave Creek Water System requiring significant improvements and a host of other problems combine to create a real hardship for these residents. The longer we wait, the greater the percentages that one or more of these shortcomings will precipitate a real problem. Waiting longer will also increase the costs of addressing and correcting the problem, and it will raise the potential that a change-over won’t occur at all.
Tony Geiger is a Carefree resident with 35+ years of experience with water and waste water systems. Tony has been working closely with the members of the Carefree Water Committee to develop the change-over of these homes to the Carefree Water System. Tony’s is a recognized engineering and water systems expert, and his contributions have been invaluable. Tony expresses his support for Mayor Peterson continuing to lead this effort in the letter below.
The best way to continue to implement this change-over in the near-term is to keep the members of the Carefree Water Committee intact. To continue the substantial work that is underway requires that Mayor Peterson and the other members of the Committee, Vice Mayor John Crane and Council Member Stephen Hatcher, be re-elected for the upcoming term. Mayor Peterson’s opponent for Mayor has shown ambivalence towards completing this important project.
Please cast your vote for these three people, Mayor Les Peterson, Vice Mayor John Crane and Council member Stephen Hatcher, as well as Council members Cheryl Kroyer and Michael Krahe who are managing important other aspects of Carefree’s business, in the election currently underway. All of us also support the Council candidate Vince D’Aleseio, who is showing real interest in and dedication to Carefree.
It has been a wonderful opportunity to meet with so many Carefree residents over these past weeks and hearing your thoughts and concerns about the water situation and other Town matters. Please feel free to come in to the town Offices to discuss this and any other subject with me.

Letter of Support from Tony Geiger
To All Residents,
Hopefully you had the chance to attend the June 26 or July 9 water presentation or at least review the videos. The bottom line is we have a real water problem on the West Side of Carefree that impacts not just the homes and businesses served by Cave Creek Water but the entire Town of Carefree.
Over the past 5 years, having been involved in trying to identify the scope of the water issue and potential solutions, I have had the opportunity to work with 2 Carefree mayors and several Carefree Council members. I have also had the opportunity to work with 2 different Cave Creek mayors and 3 different Cave Creek Councils.
It is my opinion based on these experiences that lead me to state unequivocally that Mayor Peterson is the best person to lead our Town in solving this problem. He has a handle on the scope of the issue and will come up with the best solution for all the residents of Carefree. He posses the skill set required to work thru this issue that has engineering, financial and political elements. Most importantly, Mayor Peterson is a true steward of the public trust who we can count on to do what is best for our community, not what is easiest. He has a proven track record to back this up.
A tremendous amount of effort went into getting us to the point where we are on this issue. The Town has committed significant funds ($300,000 +) to do the required engineering and financial study and we are poised to get this problem solved. If there was ever a time to vote this is it. The potential impact of the water issue on our quality of life and home values is massive. The easiest thing we can do at this point is to take the time to vote and to vote for Mayor Peterson as he gives the Town the best chance to get this issue corrected properly. If we don’t get this problem solved now, it will be much more difficult in the future requiring a much larger commitment of time and money on everyone’s part.
Now is the time to get this done and re-electing Mayor Peterson is the best way to make it happen.
Sincerely,
Tony Geiger

Lyn, very impressive list of support. If I was still able to vote I would add my name to the list in support of Les Peterson.
Ed Morgan
(Lyn's note: Les Peterson is a good man. The more I've gotten to know him and to see what he does behind the scenes, with no fanfare, the more I like and respect him.)
I have to say I’m loving Civana! Love the fresh clean look of the remodel. Soothing color palate, inside and out. And eating at Terras! Had lunch there twice this week, made my tastebuds and sensibilities sing! Healthy choices (and the other kind) prepared beautifully! My new fav “go to” eatery!

Jakki Brooks
How long does this offer last?
I love the re-election signs.
Laurie Palace
(Lyn's note: I contacted Civana with your question. The offer for the special monsoon season room rate is good through August. The remodeled rooms are gorgeous. And I agree that Les' signs have pizzazz.)
People are judged by the the people company they keep. Kim Prince is an rabid supporter of Mike Farrar. Friday evening, while going into Civana for dinner, Lyn and I had the misfortune to walk in with Kim Prince, who was there to attend a Mike Farrar Meet & Greet. Kim pulled in at the same time and parked next to us. She immediately started verbally attacking Lyn. This was the second incident of this behavior in the past 2 months.
The first was at Alberto's restaurant. I had been asked to photograph the Carefree Restaurant Association meeting that was being held there. Jo Gemmill had brought Kim Prince to the meeting, although to the best of anyone's knowledge, Kim had not provided PR for the Association this past season. Kim accused Lyn of misconduct as a P&Z Commissioner, and said her writing Carefree Truth constituted a conflict of interest. John Traynor, another rabid supporter of Mike Farrar, has been try to get Lyn off of P&Z for years in order to discredit her, and by association, Carefree Truth. During each incident, Lyn declined to in a engage in these tacky arguments with Kim, but Kim continued to yap at her.
My response to Kim on the way into Civana was to ask who dropped her leash. All I could think of when looking at Kim Prince was how one's physical appearance can reflect the ugliness and dirty dark personality. Remember, always keep your dog on a leash - its a County ordinance.

Lyn,
Basic question - how can I (or anyone else) get a direct message (communication) to the total idiot council member known as Michael Edward FARRAR - other than going face-to-face with him in the Post Office? One of his "canvassers" left his lies on my front door today and ran off - hope to catch them on my property next visit.

Hi Lyn,
Having just read your latest Carefree Truth I thought you might want to know that Mr. Farrar was here in Sentinel Rock yesterday. I saw some of his fliers stuck in doors of houses on my walk this morning. Great advertising for burglars!
Linda Z.
(Lyn's note: The issue of leaving his literature alerting burglars was brought to his attention previously. He is continuing to leave his literature.)
Somebody violated my no trespassing sign, came up my driveway and took a rock from our yard and placed a Farrar card under it. Really pisses me off. My outdoor camera did not catch who did it.
Paul M.
(Lyn's note: Mike Farrar had stated in writing that he would not go onto property that was posted with No Soliciting signs. It seems No Trespassing signs don't count.)
Hi Lyn,
Hah! On my way to work yesterday I saw a sign twirler south side of Tom Darlington at the roundabout. The sign was for Mike Ferrar. Really?! This early in the game? What’s next? By election time Mike will have turned our wonderful little town into some kind of circus. I don’t like to see this happening.

Hi Lyn,
Les and I attended the funeral Friday for Julian Barrolaza. A number of people came to say there good byes and express their condolences with Heather and the family. One statement that came up to Les was the extreme disappointment about the take over of the PO with all the Farrar postings and no place for a notice of Julian’s death. The feeling was others who knew and worked with Julian were not aware of his sudden passing. Again people are questioning why this is happening. Sad that things have gone this far and a building that was once a town meeting spot is now a political headquarters with no regard to the residents of our town.
Thank you and Carefree Truth for your notice as this was how many were made aware of Julian’s passing.
Mary
(Lyn's note: I had been planning to attend Julian's memorial service too, but our router started to fail the night before and the guy from our wifi provider wasn't able to get out to install a new one until almost noon on Friday. I was sorry to have missed it. Julian and I worked together on several projects. I always liked him. I'll miss seeing his smiling face around town.)
Lyn
Please add my letter to your letters from readers without commentary to the Carefree Truth.
If you are fair and balanced then you will let your readers know how most areas businesses feel about the current business climate in Carefree.
Over 20 businesses have closed in the past 3 years with many more on the verge of closing. We think the residents of Carefree should know how we feel since we also have a large in vestment in this town and more importantly, WE are the face of Carefree.
Thank you
Larry Foppe
Why are we the tax payer paying for all of this. We do not need this.

Lyn- I am 110% behind you- you go girl!!! this high density housing issue had got to stop -other than in the downtown area. I am forwarding your e-mails to some folks who do not get the 'Carefree Truth' & who have expressed concern about the HD housing. Thank you Lyn-let me know if I can help. If you need support at P&Z mtgs, pls call out- you must not fight this alone!!
Thanks Lyn- keep up the 'TRUTH'.
Sincerely,

On his dying bed he keeps it up. Maybe when he is gone this guy won’t have the venomous old man whispering in his ear.
