Dear Neighbors:
Friday night you may have noticed the red glow to the northwest and last night you may have noticed the smoky air. The source is a lightning caused brush fire, called the Brooklyn Fire near I17 and Bloody Basin Road north of Black Canyon City and in the Agua Fria National Monument. More information and updates can be found at https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5336/, an intergovernmental web site designed to share incident information. This web site shows:
The Brooklyn Fire was reported on July 7, at 3:30 p.m. It was burning one mile southwest of Brooklyn Peak in a remote area of the Tonto National Forest. As of this morning, the fire was estimated to be 17,800 acres in size. The fire was pushed all night by winds. It is burning in grass and brush in a westerly direction into the Agua Fria National Monument and to the north.
