Lyn's note: Please feel free to send us any pictures you'd like included. If your photos are for sale, let us know and we will put them under that category. We have a special section for that purpose. If anyone would like to buy a print of any of Herbert's photos, all profits will be donated to one of the local non-profit organizations. Here are the links to this week's Pictures of the Week. Enjoy!)

Dear Lyn,
We want to thank you for your continued and valuable support of the Desert Foothills Library and our new Little Free Library in the Carefree Desert Gardens. The most amazing thing about this project is that the DFLA Board approved this idea on April 19th, John Crane and the Town of Carefree came on board on May 2nd and the Little Free Library was installed and launched on May 25th. DFL volunteers agreed to become Stewards and monitor the LFL on a weekly basis on the very the first day!
It is inspirational and very encouraging to have had the opportunity to be involved with a project to promote literacy and a sense of community and also to witness the amazing cooperation of everyone involved. We are very grateful for the positive response from our friends and neighbors and hope that this is just one of many opportunities for future beneficial partnerships.
Warm regards,
Linda & Mark Putney
(Lyn's note: I have always loved to read, something I got from Mom, who was a voracious reader. If you love to read, you continue to learn, and you never have to be bored or lonely. I plan to leave some of my books at the Little Free Library for others to enjoy too.)
I couldn't agree more about the importance of learning to read and appreciate books at a young age.
Thanks again to you and Herb for all you do to benefit Carefree and our entire Foothills Community!
Linda
(Lyn's note: The Desert Foothills area is fortunate to have so many talented people who possess a real spirit of giving, volunteering their time and money to the many local non profits. Thank you for all you do too! We are truly blessed to live in a place with an such an abundance of both beauty and generosity.)
What a generous and thoughtful gift to Carefree by the Putneys. Mark and Linda continue to remind me of the special people who live in Carefree.

Hello Lyn:
Thank you for continuing to mention the Little Free Library in the Carefree Desert Gardens in your postings. Thanks to the initiative and generosity of Linda and Mark Putney, the support of the Desert Foothills Library and the Town of Carefree, the Little Free Library is a great addition to our Garden and brings real value to those who live here and visit us. The rapid turnover in books testifies to use. We are encouraging reading habits that will last a life time.
As a Councilman, I have my hands in lots of things. The LFL is one item that I feel especially good about. It resonates with things that are important to me – bringing value to people, helping a 501(c)3, no cost to the tax payer, citizen participation.
Best regards,
John Crane
All good news...now for an ice cream parlor and movie theatre and the town will be jumping!

Hi Lyn, Thanks also for including the wonderful video of Adrianne’s retirement party in your recent Carefree Truth. I watched the whole thing. Really great. Thank Herbie also. Love his videos and really appreciate all you and he do for the Town, particularly in documenting the meetings and special events like this. It was just like being there.
Lloyd Meyer
(Lyn's note: Lloyd watched the video before it was made private to protect the facial identities of the judge and the prosecutor. The video was fun, and we were sorry to have to password protect it, but we certainly didn't want or mean to potentially endanger either of them.)
Hi Lyn- thought I'd send a pic to remind folks that there are boots available to save their pups paws on summer walks. Indie wears xs Pawz, albeit begrudgingly, but he seems to understand why.
