The final few ballot are still being counted, but the numbers are not expected to change significantly. The preliminary unofficial results of the Carefree election, as of 9:30 on Wednesday night, are as follows:
Mayor
Les Peterson-687
Mike Farrar-481
Council
Cheryl Kroyer-781
John Crane-778
Stephen Hatcher-778
Mike Krahe-758
Vince D'Aliesio-735
Gene Orrico-695
All the candidates received a sufficient number of votes to be elected in the primary, so no run-off election will be necessary in November. Congratulations to the winners.
Lyn & Herbert
Our congratulations to Les Peterson and all of you for a very positive, very well done, and professionally managed campaign. We were very proud to be part of it, and look forward to continuing to support our fine Mayor and Council in every way we can. We know from experience what is required to do what you’re doing, and want you to know your service and commitment to our special community is deeply appreciated.
Lloyd & Donna Meyer
P.S. Special thanks to you also, John, for taking the leadership in personally resolving the very difficult term limit issue. You came through with flying colors on that one which will benefit our community in perpetuity.

Great issue. Phil Corso has already contacted me about the Leadership Program & I am excited to have been asked to be a member of the inaugural class.

THANKS JOHN. READ AND WATCHED THE VIDEO. SOUNDS LIKE FARRAR WOULD LIKE TO RUSH SOMETHING FORWARD IN HIS OWN INTEREST, BASED MORE ON THE TIMING OF THE UPCOMING ELECTION. I AGREE THAT THE RESIDENTS SHOULD HAVE A VOICE IN THE MEMORIAL AND IT IS LIKELY THAT UNTIL THE WHOLE COMMUNITY IS INCLUDED IN THE CONVERSATION THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE POSSIBLE DONATIONS AND QUALITY CONCEPTS WILL BE FOREVER LOST. THE IDEA THAT AN IMPORTANT VETERANS MEMORIAL IN CAREFREE WOULD BE FAST TRACKED BASED ON AN UPCOMING ELECTION OR THIS YEARS VETERANS DAY DATE IN NOVEMBER SHOWS A COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE. I DON’T WORK WELL WITH ANYONE WHO WOULD PUT THEIR OWN INTERESTS AHEAD OF THE TOWN OR I WOULD GET INVOLVED. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, THE BEST VETERANS MEMORIAL IS THE BOB HOPE PIECE WITH VOICE CLIPS FROM HIS USO TOURS. MY GUESS IS, THAT TOOK MORE THAN THREE OR FOUR MONTH TO COMPLETE.

LYN, I RECENTLY WROTE A RESPONSE REGARDING THE VETERANS MEMORIAL HERE IN CAREFREE. MY WIFE KRISTA AND I BUILT OUR OWN HOME HERE AND HAVE BEEN RESIDENTS OF CAREFREE SINCE 1980. I AM A VIETNAM COMBAT VETERAN, US ARMY. I WAS SERIOUSLY WOUNDED THERE IN 1967 AND WAS MEDICALLY RETIRED WITH A 100% PERMANENT DISABILITY. IN THE YEARS SINCE, I HAVE DESIGNED AND BUILT SEVENTEEN HOMES HERE IN THE FOOTHILLS AREA. THE VETERANS MEMORIAL HAS GREAT APPEAL TO ME PERSONALLY AND I BELIEVE MOST RESIDENTS IN CAREFREE WOULD BE IN FAVOR OF IT. HOWEVER I DON'T BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE RUSHED THRU BY A SMALL GROUP WITHOUT THE INPUT OF THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. AS YOU KNOW, MANY OF THE RESIDENTS HERE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND COUNSEL MEETINGS UNTIL THIS FALL OR WINTER WHEN OUR POPULATION COMES BACK TO FULL STRENGTH. MR. FARRAR SEEMS TO HAVE ADOPTED THIS FOR HIS OWN PURPOSES BASED ON A POLITICAL AGENDA THAT WOULD STRENGTHEN HIS CANDIDACY FOR MAYOR. THANK YOU.
BOB COLLINS
John Traynor pitches more cow pies than an Alabama rancher. Throwing what he can to see what sticks. Very revealing his manic list against everyone but Farrar. You can tell who will benefit from Farrar being Mayor. Look at the faces and businesses that support Farrar.
Bet promises were made, like the Christmas Festival being given back to Jo Gemmill. Come on Carefree, wise up. A candidate running for Mayor that can’t support himself or his campaign, so who is supporting Farrar? The last thing Carefree wants is have their newly elected Mayor hit with welfare fraud charges during the first meeting, on film and with the press there. Maybe the Enquirer should be notified.
