(Lyn's note: The articles below were written by a reporter from Ms. Roth's hometown of New Canaan, Connecticut, where she owned a clothing store that closed back in 2019 under less than "transparent" and "ethical" circumstances, leaving her landlord holding the bag. It is this enterprise to which she is referring when she brags about her "extensive retail experience" and how she can bring retail shops to Carefree. She is, however, making every attempt to stir up animosity towards the upcoming retail project on the N.E. corner of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road with some of our existing business owners.
For example, the owner of Bosco's Biscuits, where we buy our dog food and biscuits, was quite upset that PetSmart would be moving from the Summit to Carefree's N.E. corner. Diane Roth had been in there stirring her up that it would compete with her. I told Alison that she mostly carried cute toys and outfits for small dogs, along with some dog food and her wonderful handmade dog biscuits, and that PetSmart mostly carried more practical everyday items for not only dogs, but for cats and various other types of animal pets.
I also noted that there are numerous great Italian restaurants in Carefree, and that towns tended to have multiples of many business types. She agreed. As it is, the existing PetSmart store is currently just down the road from Bosco's Biscuits, in the Summit, and would be approximately the same distance away if it moves to Carefree. Pet Food Depot is also down the road in Cave Creek and Cave Creek has another big chain pet food store a bit farther south. But it doesn't change the fact that Ms. Roth was, as is her wont, attempting to stir up resentment. If she did that at Bosco's Biscuits, it's probably safe to assume she is doing it elsewhere as well.
As you can see by the articles below, her ethical compass does not seem to point anywhere near to true north, and she has no interest in working for the best interests of Carefree. Stirring up trouble seems to be her driving force, and she does it very well, which is how she got elected. She divided and conquered. What a shame for our citizens that she plays politics so well.

A women’s clothing shop on Park Street is closing, according to its owner. After saying that L’Armoire would undergo a renovation, Diane Roth conceded in a Facebook post Thursday night that the business at 102 Park St. is at “the end.” “Thank you for your patronage and thank you L’Armoire for making women more beautiful,” the Facebook post said.Much of the shop’s merchandise had been removed from the commercial space this week and signs advertising a 75% off sale appeared in its window. Asked about the signs, workers at the store said Monday that it was L’Armoire’s regular spring sale. Told that it was July, they did not respond.
Roth during a phone interview Tuesday said only that L’Armoire has been around for 34 years and that it would be closed for two weeks for a renovation, then scheduled an interview at the shop Wednesday and failed to show. It isn’t clear why it closed. ‘L’Armoire’ means “the wardrobe.”
Roth had been one of the downtown merchants who voiced opposition to the Pop-Up Park, which last appeared at South and Elm in 2017.

By Michael Dinan | July 26, 2020A pilates studio is planned for a commercial space in downtown New Canaan, according to an application that is to come before the Planning & Zoning Commission on Tuesday. Core Burn Pilates is to be located in the former L’Amoire space at 102 Park St., according to applications for approval of a sign out front of the prominent brick-exterior building and site plan to allow a change in use from retail to personal services. According to a narrative filed on behalf of property owner Caroline Realty LLC, nothing is changing with the building and the new tenant will have access to a large parking lot off of Cherry Street.
The space had been occupied by L’Armoire for 34 years, according to the narrative from the LLC’s managing partner, Rob Mallozzi. “Last July I received a call from a neighboring businesses alerting me to moving vans outside of that location; the tenant moved out without a word leaving a year left on the lease,” Mallozzi said in the letter. L’Armoire’s owner was Diane Roth.
