Carefree Announces Multi-Agency Enforcement of Traffic Laws during Bike Week
Bike Week 2020, March 27 - April 5, is fast approaching. During these 10 days, the Town of Carefree in conjunction with MCSO and additional law enforcement agencies, will take a proactive stance to help ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians on our streets through strict enforcement of traffic laws relative to speeding, drunk driving, noise and bad behavior.
This year, there will be a large, multi-agency law enforcement presence on Carefree’s roads, and connecting roads. This increased police presence and support will include officers and equipment from the Scottsdale and Phoenix Police Departments, as well as from other Valley-wide Police Departments.
Law enforcement agencies will establish a DUI headquarters on Cave Creek Road, and check points on the major roads leading to the Bike Week activities in Cave Creek that pass through Carefree. These include Pima Rd, Tom Darlington Dr, and Cave Creek Rd. The officers will uphold the laws to enhance the safety of Carefree residents and others using the Carefree roads, no matter if the vehicle’s driver is on a motorcycle or in a car or truck.
This incremental enforcement of the traffic laws is made possible through special funding from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
We are grateful to MCSO Sheriff Penzone and all of his officers involved in this effort, and to all involved at neighboring law enforcement agencies, for listening to our concerns and responding appropriately.
Lyn, we have been following your informative site for some time now. I thought you may be interested to learn of an unfortunate incident we had Saturday night at our home here in Carefree.
We had just retired for the night at 10:00 (2200 hours). About ten minutes later I heard a very loud crash in our dining room. Someone had thrown a four plus pound rock through the window, bringing down the blind, damaging the dining room table and leaving an extensive amount of glass throughout the area.
911 was called and a deputy sheriff arrived shortly thereafter. He said it was probably teenagers, unlikely to ever be apprehended.
We may live in Carefree but we are certainly not crime free!

(Lyn's note: That's just awful. I'm so sorry. It sure is a different world today than the one in which we grew up. We never even locked the doors, much less had monitored alarm systems.)
I would recommend Dynamic Appliance Repair, 480-590-7322. They were great, Scott & Steve came out. Turns out the washer didn't need the repair I thought it did, it was just an issue because it wasn't balanced level. And they stacked my washer/dryer as I requested. They were on time, friendly and professional.
