During Current Events, Vice Mayor John Crane reminded everyone that the first of 4 Gardens seminars scheduled for this season would take place on Saturday, January 12th. The topic is Living with Urban Wildlife, and the speaker will be an urban wildlife specialist from the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Vice Mayor Crane said this will be information people can actually use in their real life, so it is worth attending.

LIVING WITH URBAN WILDLIFE
Living in Arizona we see many species of wildlife… small to large…flying to four-legged. As natural habitats and native food sources shrink, we see “urban wildlife” adapting to life in our neighborhoods and our yards. Inviting wildlife into our living space can be enjoyable to observe. Sometimes it can create problems.
On January 12, 2019 Carefree Desert Gardens welcomes Darren Julian, Urban Wildlife Specialist for Arizona Game and Fish Department, Region 6. With a B.S. degree in Wildlife Conservation Biology from ASU, Darren has been with the department for 18 years. He is frequently called upon to resolve wildlife conflicts statewide.
Learn how to coexist with Arizona’s wildlife in our urban areas. Find out how to prevent problems with wildlife before they occur, and how to safely invite them into our yards and ways to discourage them if you choose.
The program, usually including a plant raffle, will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run approximately until noon in the Town Council Chambers located at 33 Easy Street and Nonchalant Avenue, Carefree. A $5.00 (or more) donation is appreciated to support these programs. For information call 480-488-3686.
This is the first of 4 programs of the 2019 Carefree Desert Gardens seminar series.
