It was a snowy Christmas Eve at the North Pole, The holiday spirit was in full swing—elves were bustling, reindeer were gearing up, and Mrs. Claus had just set out a fresh batch of cookies. But something was missing this year. The holiday magic just did not feel right.
Santa was sitting in his big red chair, gazing at the twinkling lights in Christmas Town, head in hands, muttering, "Ho... Ho... oh no." His usual hearty laugh was absent, replaced by a heavy sigh. Word quickly spread through the workshop: Santa had the Christmas Eve Blues.
Mrs. Claus quietly poured Santa a cup of hot cocoa and sat down beside him. "What’s really wrong, dear?"
"Santa, what’s the matter?" asked Jingle, one of his most curious elves.
"I’ve got the Christmas Eve blues," Santa sighed. "I don’t feel... jolly. It’s the same routine every year," Santa admitted. "The sleigh, the presents, the chimneys... I love Christmas, but I feel like I’ve lost the magic."
The room fell silent. An elf gasped. The reindeer peeked their heads into the workshop, ears twitching. A Santa without cheer on Christmas Eve? Unthinkable!
Mrs. Claus smiled. "You’re not losing the magic, Santa. You just need to remember why you started this in the first place. It’s not about the presents—it’s about the joy."
"Don’t worry, Santa! We’ll fix this!" declared Jingle trying to cheer Santa up.
Miss Ava, Santa’s trusty Executive Assistant Elf, knew something had to be done. So she gathered everyone—elves, reindeer, and even Mrs. Claus—in the North Pole Grand Hall. To underscore the gravity of the situation, Santa’s oldest and most trusted friend, the illusive Padre was called in to consult.
As the crowd settled, Miss Ava addressed the room. “Everyone, we have a serious challenge ahead. Santa’s got the Christmas Eve Blues. It’s up to us to bring back his joy before the clock strikes midnight.
The Brainstorm Begins
Miss Ava reminded everyone that the #1 Rule of Brainstorming is that there are no crazy ideas which set the stage. The elves were the first to chime in. Suggestions flew through the air like snowflakes.
Alfie stood up and hollered "Maybe he needs more cookies!"
Bojangles smiled and said, "What about a jingle jangle dance party. We can try tickling his toes!"
Chuckles, the most mischievous elf, “What if we bake Santa a giant gingerbread cake and I’ll pop up out of it? He loves gingerbread!”
Haha, the jokester among the elves said, “Or we could throw a surprise disco party in the sleigh barn. Everyone loves a good boogie!”
“Maybe we knit him a sweater that sings Christmas carols,” suggested Smiles.
Twinkles piped up, “What if we create a magical snowstorm that spells out ‘We Love Santa’ in the sky?”
The room erupted in chatter as ideas flew. Miss Ava nodded approvingly. “Great energy, everyone! Keep it coming.”
Rudolph cleared his throat, his nose glowing brighter than usual. “Santa’s always loved the sound of the bells on our reins. When we’re all lined up and he hears those bells jingling, he can’t help but shout, ‘Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas!’”
The reindeer all nodded in agreement. “The jingle bells bring him joy,” said Dasher. Prancer agreed “It’s a sound that’s pure Christmas.”
The Jingle Joy Bell
The idea struck like lightning. Miss Ava raised her hands to silence the room. “What if we create a special bell that, when rung, lets Santa hear the children of the world singing a Christmas song? We’ll call it a Jingle Joy Bell?"
The room fell silent for a moment, then erupted in cheers. It was unanimous: the Jingle Joy Bell was the perfect solution. The elves agreed to mass-produce the bells for next year, but for tonight, they’d focus on crafting a single prototype in record time.
A Magical Musical Moment
When the brainstorming was over, the Padre exchanged a knowing glance with Mrs. Claus and whispered, “Music heals all that ails us. I’ll be right back.”
Slipping out of the room, he took his old Martin guitar to a quiet corner of the workshop. In no time, he had rewritten the lyrics to the iconic song *Jingle Bells*.
Returning to the meeting, the Padre found the group buzzing with excitement and announced that he had written a song for the Jingle Joy Bell. “Perfect timing,”said Alfie. “Let’s hear it!”
And though the Padre doesn’t play a guitar well and can’t sing a lick, he still performed the Jingle Joy Bells song and owned the room.
Everyone clapped wildly and thanked the Padre. The elves then quickly adapted the bell’s programming using their new Santa AI Program to include the voices of the entire team joining the children of the world singing the Jingle Joy Bells song.
The Big Reveal
As midnight neared, Mrs. Claus led Santa to his favorite chair in his study where he saw the Padre sitting on the couch. At that moment, Miss Ava, the elves, and all the reindeer burst into the room, holding up a sparkling golden Jingle Joy Bell.
"Santa”, Ava said, “the elves made this just for you! We call it the Jingle Joy Bell! When you ring it, you’ll hear the voices of every child in the world singing the Padre’s new song, Jingle Joy Bells, on Christmas morning."
Santa took the bell and gave it a little shake. A cascade of happy giggles and excited squeals filled the air. His face lit up brighter than Rudolph’s nose. The room filled with the sound of children from all over the world singing. Tears welled in Santa’s eyes as his face broke into a wide grin. “Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas!”he bellowed, his joy restored. Everyone joined in singing the Jingle Joy Bell Song. The laughter and music echoed through the North Pole and they watched as Santa’s blues melted away.
"Ho, ho, ho! That’s the spirit I was missing!" Santa exclaimed, standing up and dusting off his red suit. The elves cheered, the reindeer pranced, and Santa’s sleigh was loaded up faster than ever. As he climbed aboard, he turned to the workshop. "Thank you, everyone! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
A Christmas Legacy
On Christmas day, Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the elves all met at Carefree Beach to pack for Santa’s annual surfin’ safari. The Padre suggested that Miss Ava and the elves share their new song with the world. Jingle Joy Bells was released on Spotify and went viral, selling over 100 million copies. All proceeds were donated to Santa’s Christmas Toy Fund, spreading holiday cheer to children everywhere. Christmas Eve became legendary again.
You see, the Padre knows that everyone needs a little help when the Christmas Eve Blues capture us now and then. He’s been there a few times himself. Now all anyone needs to do is shake their Jingle Joy Bell and sing along with the children of the world on Christmas Eve.

Here's the Jingle Joy Bell song...the one my old friend the Padre wrote as a cure for Santa's Christmas Eve Blues. (No worries. Someone else is singing.)
