Gary Neiss noted that there have been many complaints lodged concerning the safety of the 4 crosswalks adjacent to the town center.  The Town cannot arbitrarily make improvements.  It must consult with certified traffic engineers, so money was put into this year's budget for a traffic study on this issue.



The firm of Rick Engineering was hired to perform the study on improving the safety of the 2 crosswalks on Tom Darlington Drive and the 2 on Cave Creek Road.  On Thursday, December 12th, a workshop was held in the Council chambers to present Rick's findings and suggestions, and to receive public input.

The biggest take-away from this workshop was that the most serious threat to pedestrian safety is the speed of the drivers.

Crosswalk safety will be coming before the Council in January or February.
