Responses to the Pumpkin Festival pics (more to come!):
Herbie and Lyn,
Absolutely wonderful.
Thank you.
Les Peterson
Hi,
Those are great pictures. Thank you for sending. What a carver. What detail!!
Marlys Weber
(Lyn's note: Thanks. Herbert really enjoys taking the pics for Ray and for the Town. To the best of my knowledge, there is no pumpkin event anywhere in the world that tops Carefree's. Sue Beatrice, one of Ray's carvers who is a dear friend of mine, also carves at the Bronx Zoo. They have fantastic pumpkins, but not all the scenes with buildings and stories that we have. What Ray and his team do here is truly unique and amazing.)
It sure is!
Marlys
His images are amazing! Yes we did get there last Sat. Such a great event.
Marie Peck
Looks wonderful at nite. Great photos as always.
Jan Hughes
These photos are fabulous! They catch the, um, enchantment of the Enchanted Pumpkin Gardens Festival perfectly!
Thanks to Herbert for the beautiful photos and thanks to you both for sharing.

Wow! Impressive turnout. I’m so glad to see this. Thank you for sending all of the fabulous photos. It’s funny, I really disliked one of the faces I carved there but Herbie took such a great photo of it that I sort of like it now. Now that’s skill!
The photos really bring out the best in every sculpture.

Lyn,
Bravo and well said regarding your response to the “anonymous” Carefree resident that was disappointed regarding the Pumpkin Festival. I’m in agreement with you and believe most of the negative attitudes were due to most people being misinformed regarding the festival. As a business owner of Carefree, I have to say that we thoroughly look forward to and enjoy this festival, it brings many people through our town and gives our little boutique on the corner more exposure than normal.
Thank you for always supporting our town, you're so appreciated!

Hi Lyn,
So awesome on all the goings on for you this week. We LOVE the pumpkin festival and have attended for the last several years except we are still are out of town this year and unfortunately missed it. Bummer! We will definitely be checking out Ray’s website. Thanks for sharing.

So interesting, Lyn!

Comments on Nikolay's cute new baby pics:
What a beautiful baby.
Ron Crouse
I must admit that's pretty darn cute, especially considering its lack of fur. :-)
Kathy Riemer
(Lyn's note: Kathy is a kitty person.)
With parents looking like that, that baby has no chance of being ugly! Talk about winning the gene lottery. lol.

Lyn:
For as many years as I can remember, I have a very high level of distaste for those who write letters and/or comments and hide behind the “anonymous” name.
I would see them in the Sonoran News and have attempted in the past to suggest to that editor that he no longer publish ‘anonymous’ letters unless it could be shown that harm could come if published.
Over the years, I have voiced my thoughts and opinions. I have been both condemned and criticized. I have also had my share of supporters. But I have never hidden my opinions.
You and Dr. Herbie are editors in chief of Carefree Truth. Therefore, you publish what you want your readers to see. The diversity of opinion, after thoughtful consideration, often allows for a good decisions. Some committees often end up with a camel when trying to build a horse. For many months, your various issues covered all the meetings relating to the Pumpkin Festival, along with pros and cons of entry fees for all, Carefree residents or not. Your response “notes” could have included a question whether Mr or Mrs Anonymous attended any of those meetings when input was being requested and spoke up before decisions were made, or did he, she, or they, just sit back, say nothing and do nothing until it was time to vocalize thoughts after the festival was underway?
Should entry to many museums that use public tax dollars be free to that municipality’s residents? Should entry to the Music Instrument Museum offer a special rate to shareholders of Target Corporation that spearheaded the effort to get it built? To the best of my knowledge Target used both corporate and foundation dollars in its efforts. Most of the dollars would have originated from Target, a publically-traded company, who shareholders are the owners. In the interest of full disclosure, I do not own any shares of Target unless they are within a mutual fund.
Perhaps Mr. or Mrs Anonymous should take a little time to read Phil Corso’s comments.
As you know, I sat on the Town Council for one two-year term. Perhaps the most thankless time of my life. Even if you vote along the lines of 90% of the Town’s residents, the other 10% are critical. The decision that I made not to run for a second term, but to spend time volunteering for the Foothills Caring Corps, was one of the best choices that I have ever made. Even on the worst of times, the ‘neighbors’ served by the Caring Corps are always thankful and not hesitant in showing it. As I sit behind the wheel of one of the vehicles, a pat on my shoulder along with a thank-you is just as good as getting a paycheck.
Arthur Gimson
(Lyn's note: Arthur, I agree that anonymous letters are not preferable, but I made the decision to publish that anonymous note from the "disappointed resident" because he or she wrote what too many misinformed people have been saying on the street and on the internet. I felt it gave me the opportunity to correct the misinformation with public record facts, something Carefree Truth exists to do.)
