The project started about 4 months ago. They were thinking there might be 50 cars and 10 planes. There will be 107 cars and 21 planes! They are having to turn people away because there is no more room. American and European cars will be from 1980 and older. Visit the website at www.Carefree-wheels-wings.com to see pictures of some of the cars and for more information.

Mr. Hardie thanked the members of the Carefree Town staff, whom he said were more than helpful, even offering suggestions. He came from a state where, at best, local government was indifferent and, at worst, hostile. Working with a Town Council that is supportive and helpful was an absolutely wonderful experience. He thanked them all again.
They have some great sponsors. He cited Kiwanis, Bashas', Haggerty Insurance, Bertram Signs, ROC ll Coffee, and Anderson Windows. There will be drone shows put on by Embry Riddle Aeronautic University, and a championship young man will be flying remote controlled planes. The shows will take place at 9, 10, & 11 AM. Parking along Cave Creek Road, and admission, are free.
Mayor Les Peterson thanked Mr. Hardie for pulling this together. He noted that there used to be shows like this in Carefree, but they went away. The Mayor felt this could become a major event.

The petition called for the Council to fulfill their fiduciary duty to protect the health and safety, as well as the property values, of all of Carefree's residents through acquiring the service rights for those Carefree residents and businesses being serviced by the Cave Creek Water Company, and incorporating them into the Carefree Water Company system. It requested that this process be completed expeditiously. He added that family members with 4 legs and fur were equally adversely affected by the quality of the water in their water bowls.

Mike Wold thanked the Council for its long history of support for veterans and for the veteran services they provide.

The 12th Healing of Memories Veterans' Workshop will be held at the Spirit of the Desert Retreat Center on April 17th. Support from the community is what has allowed these workshops to take place. This workshop is for women veterans only. Women are often troubled with different kinds of pain and suffering resulting from their service. This is a unique opportunity. Mr. Wold knew of no other program like it nationwide. It is a very effective workshop.
Mayor Peterson said he highly recommends these workshops. A number of the Council members have attended one. They are for veterans suffering from PTSD and other issues that they tend to internalize. For many, it is the first step towards verbalizing these issues with others who have had similar experiences. It is very worthwhile.

Blending Hardscape with Landscape
Saturday, March 14, 9:30 am

In her own words, says Judy Mielke, “The challenge of putting plants together into a pleasing design is made a little easier by the suggestions for landscape use…aesthetics are considered, as are functional needs…” By using various types of hardscape: walls, paving, seating, ramadas, fireplaces, water features, etc. and combining them with beautiful plants providing shade, color, and even food, you might be surprised at how much fun it can be to make your landscape into what you think it should be. Judy will also cover mulch materials, both rock and organic, and water harvesting ideas.
This is your opportunity to find answers to all your landscape design questions from a real pro. On Saturday, March 14, Carefree Desert Gardens is pleased to welcome back expert and celebrity Judy Mielke, Senior Landscape Architect with Logan Simpson Design. She is a well-known author for her award- winning book Native Plants for Southwestern Landscapes and has taught courses on Landscape Plant Materials and Arizona Native Plants at Arizona State University. Judy is a Certified Arborist and Certified Water Harvesting Practitioner.
The program, usually including a plant raffle, will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run approximately until noon in the Town Council Chambers located at 33 Easy Street and Nonchalant Avenue, Carefree. A $5.00 – or more – donation is appreciated to support these programs. For information call 480-488-3686.
