Carefree Truth
Issue #728, March 8, 2019
During Current Events, Vice Mayor John Crane noted that Confluence (formerly Cafe Bink) was recognized by Phoenix Magazine as The Best New Restaurant in 2018. Confluence is located in the Carefree Marketplace (the Bashas' center).

"So, if you haven't gone there for dinner, or Happy Hour for an appetizer, or for lunch, you really owe it to yourself to go. Those of us who have gone there say it's one of the best restaurants up here, including those in the town next door. It's really a place to spend an enjoyable evening, so I encourage you to do that. In fact, the article in Phoenix Magazine said that it's 'far and away the Valley's best new restaurant of the year'. That's saying quite a bit, especially if you're into restaurants, because the caliber of restaurants in the Valley has been going up year after year."
(Lyn's note: Herbert compiled the various articles about Confluence, including the one in Phoenix Magazine, onto this link. Check it out. The reviews have been great. Confluence is one of our favorites too!) http://carefreetruth2.com/confluence-reviews.html
The Vice Mayor also reminded people that the next Gardens Seminar is being held on Saturday, March 9th, starting at 9:30 AM in the Council Chambers. A noted arborist will speak on the topic, "Preparing Your Trees For Summer: What And When You Need To Know". The Gardens seminars are nearly always a full or close to a full house. He encouraged people to attend.

PREPARING YOUR TREES FOR SUMMER: WHAT AND WHEN YOU NEED TO KNOW
For those of us who stay in the valley of the sun over the summer, we are well aware of what excessive heat and monsoon winds can do to our Arizona desert trees. Can we prepare them to withstand these conditions and help prevent significant storm damage from occurring? You bet!
On Saturday, March 9, Carefree Desert Gardens welcomes Sarah Maitland, ISA Certified Arborist and an ISA Tree Risk Assessor. Sarah will discuss how to recognize and correct health issues in our trees caused by insects and improper watering. She will talk on soil improvements and basic pruning concepts to prevent wind damage.
The program, usually including a plant raffle, will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run approximately until noon at the Town Council Chambers at 33 Easy Street and Nonchalant Avenue, Carefree. A $5.00 (or more) donation is appreciated to support these programs. For information call 480-488-3686.

Councilman Gene Orrico reminded people that the Kiwanis Club of Carefree is holding its semi-annual Pancake Breakfast in the Gardens on Saturday, March 23th, starting at 7:00 AM.
