Les Peterson Seeks Re-Election as Carefree Mayor
Carefree Mayor and community leader Les Peterson has declared his candidacy to continue as the town’s Mayor during the next electoral term.
Under Mayor Peterson’s leadership, and with the able assistance of the Carefree Town Council and Staff, great progress has been made in strengthening the infrastructure, visibility and financial outlook of the Town while maintaining the high quality of life which Carefree residents treasure. Momentum and a sense of pride in Carefree are growing. Carefree is establishing its reputation as a progressive, inclusive community offering substantial opportunities for involvement, while benefitting from being located in one of the most beautiful portions of the Sonoran Desert.
In addition to serving as Mayor, Les is serving as a member of the Maricopa County Association of Governments, on both the Economic Development and Regional Management Committees, and as a member of the Paradise Valley Community College President’s Advisory Board. He is also a guest lecturer at ASU, focusing on marketing in international markets. Prior to being elected to the Carefree Town Council in 2012, Les served on the Carefree Planning and Zoning Commission and was the President of the Boulders Homeowners Association.

Hello neighbors! Just wanted to say hi and let you know how much I have enjoyed the past 2 years serving our community on our town council. I am spending the next few weeks collecting signatures to have my name on the ballot this fall, and I would appreciate meeting you and getting your signature. The rule is that you have to be a Carefree registered voter in order for your signature to count. Please let me know if I can meet you in or around town to shake your hand (or give you a fist bump :) ) and sign the petition for reelection, so that I may continue serving your council for another term. My email address is: VinceDaliesio@carefree.org. Please write, let's meet for a minute or 20, and let's chat! Will need to get petitions in by April 6th, so the sooner the better...Proud CCUSD parent & supporter!
Respectfully,
Vince D'Aliesio

Hallelujah! I'd like to see them gone. Is $$ that much more of a motivator than the welfare of it's residents (CC)?

Thanks for these updates. "Bike Week" is a huge slap in the face to the residents of Carefree. Last year law enforcement was under-prepared and overwhelmed. I remember last year having to call the police at least twice because of the shenanigans on Cave Creek Road before I even got to Sentinel Rock. They were completely overwhelmed.
Just last week I was driving through the town and there was a female who could barely stand and her bike was on top of her leg, two guys had pulled up to her rescue. She was of course coming out of the Hideaway. Honestly I should’ve called 911. People that aren’t from here think of Cave Creek as a biker hang out, as if that’s what we are known for. In all my 35 years up here, I’ve never seen such disrespect.
I know we have a noise ordinance, will they enforce that?
Thanks again for your ear...
Deborah Brock
(Lyn's note: This will be a multi-prong response. If there are a lot of bikes riding together, the noise ordinance, in and of itself, is practically impossible to enforce because you have to pinpoint it to individual bikes. However, almost all of the Harleys have aftermarket exhaust systems, all of which exceed the noise limit. If the numbers on the sticker on the pipes and the one on another part of the bike don't match, it's an illegal exhaust system and the bike can be ticketed. If the bikers are behaving badly, they can be nailed for that. But the biggie will be the multiple DUI checkpoints that will be set up this year. You know that when they spend the day drinking in the bars, they are totally blasted by the time they are going home. That involves not only a ticket, but the DUI goes on their record and the bike gets confiscated and impounded. That will grab their attention.
This has been a long time organizing. A lot of time and effort on the part of several of our Council members, our Mayor, and our Town Administrator have been spent on this. They are very serious about this issue. The noise is obnoxious, but the increasing drunkenness is a safety threat.)
Well hallelujah for this!! Totally encouraged, thank you for your efforts:)
Deborah
Beautiful photo!
It is nice to see the steps being taken to insure that Bike Week is a safe success. I hope everyone has a great time.
I sympathize with Tim Morrison’s incident Saturday night. We had “teenage” “issues” in my neighborhood as well. with teenagers here in East Mesa. My neighborhood reactivated our block watch program and it really helped to stop our mini crime wave.
