Vice Mayor Crane announced that the first Veteran's Day 3 Miler race will be held on Saturday, November 9th, beginning at 9 AM near Town Hall. There are options of walking 1 mile, running 3 miles, or participating virtually by paying online without walking or running. Registration begins at 7 AM or can be done online at http://www.attveterans.org/race/. All money raised goes to help Veterans. 60 people were signed up and they hoped to have around 100 by the day of the event.
Councilman Gene Orrico reminded people that the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast would also take place that morning, starting at 7 AM in the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion. The Cave Creek American Legion Freedom Riders would be circling around.
Vice Mayor Crane said the traditional Carefree Veteran's Day program would take place on Wednesday, November 11th, from 3-5 PM. The Keynote Speakers are a Special Forces medic who served in Vietnam and a Colonel who was a 30 year career nurse serving in Vietnam and Desert Storm. As always, the Sonoran Trails Middle School and Cactus Shadows High School students participating in the Veteran's Heritage Project will be a highlight, and there will be live music. He said it would give everyone something to think about.
