Lyn:I may as well add my 2¢’s worth to the Photo Radar situation.
We moved to Carefree in 2003. At that time, there was still a little bit of “Carefree is a speed trap” mentality. It was never as bad as the Town of Paradise Valley, but they have no shops or restaurants other than in their resorts. In the last 17 years, I have yet to be pulled over, not because I always observe the Carefree speed limits, but because I don’t drive faster than is necessary. If I recall correctly from my days on Town Council, the court (now consolidated with Cave Creek) didn’t make much money from traffic tickets.
Yes, I would like to see better enforcement, with warnings and tickets being issued when necessary. More importantly, I would like to see tickets given out for those who violate the Town’s decibel-limit ordinance, especially motorcycles. One bike isn’t a problem, it is the pack of them that create the noise.
No objection to Carefree becoming a “noise trap”, better than becoming a “speed trap”.

Oops - last week I forgot to include the rest of the story - the most important part of the Carefree Coffee Roastery Yarn Bomb! Sorry to include this twice, but credit is due! Yes, I organized the project and put it up, but most importantly with the generosity of 7 knitters and crocheters we were able to get 64 squares to cover a pole at the Carefree Coffee Roastery! The picture shows Uta and Lars from CCR, Debbra Determan, Executive Director of Foothills Caring Corps, and me. Debbra is accepting a generous donation from Carefree Coffee Roastery in honor of the crafters who helped make it all possible. Now let's see what the Arizona weather will do to it! Make sure you stop by and see it.
