Lyn Wow! You are the Joan of Arc of Our Carefree!!!! Know you and Herbie are loved for speaking truth.

So good to see you back. You were missed! I hope you are feeling much better❤

Dear Lyn,
Thank you for attempting to “redirect” the letter writers who get facts wrong, who use divisive language, and who promote political discord[e.g.Biden left wing loons; The LEFT (Let's Entirely Forget Truth), etc.].
Our community has certainly had enough name calling and finger pointing over the past few years and it’s time for each of us to work to change this. We may see the world differently, vote for different candidates, and think that the other side is misinformed, but we are neighbors and there is really no place for labels or insults. Negative, polarized language is the language of today’s politicians and the news media, but it shouldn’t be the language of neighbors.
I wonder if there’s a way of encouraging people to think about what they’re saying when they send you a letter with gratuitous name calling. Any ideas?
Thanks…
Carolyn Lazar Butler
(Lyn's note: You said it quite well.)
It’s great to have you back!!! You were missed! Hope all is well.

Lyn,
Interesting responses to your initial publication. Obviously the well wishes were gratifying, (I assume).
Sadly, some of the comments regarding the topic of perception management seemed to stretch the boundaries what is commonly referred to as EQ or Emotional intelligence, which for those unfamiliar with the term is defined as the ability to understand and manage emotions. Specifically, the measures of EQ are Empathy, Effective communication and Social skills, Self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses, Self-regulation, Motivation, Relationship management, Integrity, Honesty. I think the explanation applies to anyone who engages in such behavior regardless of ideology or opinion.
IQ by contrast is defined as a measure of ability to solve problems and think logically.
John Nimsky
(Lyn's note): Please explain that concept to the ones in the audience who yell at the council members, calling them "crooks" and "assholes", and threatening them with bodily harm, as well as telling the same lies over and over, ad nauseum.)
Thanks, Lyn
I don’t always agree with you but I appreciate your reporting - especially talking about/endorsing civil and honest behavior.

YOU ARE GOING TO BE SEEING MORE OF US…BECAUSE WE WANT TO BE SEEING MORE OF YOU
The key to effective Town government is for policy makers to be attuned to the needs and wants of its constituents. Not easy in many levels of government but super-easy in a small town where you see your elected officials walking around town, eating in restaurants and shopping in stores, the same as you.
And we want to hear what you are thinking and what you think we can be doing better. Mayor Crane will be meeting people in the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion the second Friday of every month with an additional Council member or two. He is also routinely available in Town Hall, by email at mayor@carefree.org and by phone at (480) 488-3686. Council member Amoroso will continue to be at the post office talking to residents and I will be setting up shop in the Visitor’s Center every Wednesday from 11-1 beginning in November.
There are many things happening right now and we are all available to answer your questions and address your concerns.
First and foremost, next year, in November 2024, we will be voting to approve a new general plan update. The General Plan is the foundational document that guides the Town through the next 10-20 years of community planning and growth management. The document establishes the vision for the desired future of Carefree and then utilizes a series of goals, policies, actions and maps to achieve implementation. It is a conceptual plan for evaluating existing development conditions, making forecasts, and outlining broad policies that the Town will use to implement its vision through other more specific plans and measures.
State Law requires General plans to be updated every 10 years. Since the existing Carefree General plan was last ratified on November 6, 2012 and due to delays as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are now at the next 10-year planning horizon. State Law also requires the General Plan to be adopted by the Town Council and ultimately by the voters of Carefree. The General Plan Update is scheduled to be placed on the November 2024 ballot for final voter ratification.
This is your chance to take part in the future of Carefree. There have been a number of community workshops to date with one more scheduled on October 11 at 5pm at 33 Easy Street. After this last workshop, plans will be available for review from October-December and will then be on the ballot in 2024.
We hope you will take part in this important part of the future of Carefree.
