Hi Lyn,
On behalf of my community, Provence (Carefree Ironwood Estates), which represents 25 of the 526 west Carefree homes that are currently connected to the Cave Creek Water System, I would like to thank Mayor Les Peterson, Vice Mayor John Crane and the town council members for their efforts to acquire the 526 water accounts from the town of Cave Creek, and connect them to the town of Carefree’s Water System. The reasons to take these actions have been vetted and it’s the right and fair thing to do for our community and property values. We will continue to support this effort as events transpire; as evidenced by our support for responsible commercial development on the northeast corner of Cave Creek Rd and Carefree Highway. We believe this project will provide a long term economic benefit to the Town as well as enabling infrastructure to be built for the west Carefree water connection.
We applaud the Town Council’s actions to date.
Best Regards,
Mike Johnson
The 1st Annual Carefree Classic Car Rally, conceived, organized and executed by Nanci Kelleher of Hermosa Interiors and Design in Historic Spanish Village was a fantastic success. My hat is off to Nanci who, with contagious enthusiasm, took on this project with little car rally experience. Those of us who ventured out last Saturday morning to meet the drivers and their cars were treated to interesting stories and acquaintances. Black Mountain Coffee Shop, Raven's View, and Keeler's along with snow covered mountains helped to make the day memorable.
Nanci showed what can happen when a merchant takes a risk and brings a fun event to Carefree.
The word on the street says that the 2nd Annual Carefree Classic Car Rally will be bigger and better. Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines!

Pam DiPietro was on Channel 5. She was given $500 in the Pay it Forward section for her work at the Food Bank. Nice!

Thanks, Lyn. Very nice of you. It was quite an honor to be recognized by the music industry in that way. How did you learn about it. You must have sources everywhere. Thanks again.

We love Lloyd and Donna Meyer. They always greet Noah during his Sunday work shift at Safeway.

Hi Lyn- Loved the picture of the snow-bound school bus! When I was on our HOA BOD, people would ask what they got for their HOA dues ($60/yr- that 's right- $5/mo). My std reply was 'show plowing'. Oops- might have to rethink that answer!

Good morning, Lyn. Nic Bonstetter gave me your email. I am a Sonoran Arts League member and I had just completed the winter rotation at the El Pedregal. Three additional pieces were hung in the Boulder's restaurant.
Those paintings and another woman's painting were somehow given to a man who showed up in a truck and said he was returning the work to the gallery. Of course, that was bogus. This was January 10. Without any paperwork or ID the restaurant just let him take these four pieces. We are working on resolving it but I wanted to include this writing in your venue.
Warmest Regards,
Mary Bruns
Follow up email from Mary Bruns:
Lyn, We have recovered the paintings. The crew at the Boulders were so unprofessional and offered such fragmented information I am wondering how someone has such little critical thinking. They just handed the artwork over to "whoever". I was speaking with Pat Bell-Demers today trying to make some sense of this. According to the information that she got from the chef's assistant who relinquished the work, a new interior designer came in and said these four paintings were "extraneous". They moved them to the main chef's office and he told the assistant chef to call the artists. This man knew who to call, the Sonoran Arts League, who originally brought the pieces to him.
I sat with Pat and tried to remember who framed those three paintings. I asked her to try the Art Department. And sure enough, he had picked them up January 10. He thought he was re-framing purchased art. I know these framers very well, but years had lapsed since I had used them. I picked everything up today.
Please warn other artists about the professional backgrounds of people handling their work. Another piece had been lost at the Boulders as well. And the new assistant chef said, "It is in the closet at the Grill". Wow. Never again to any hotel will I give my work.
Thanks for your kind understanding. Artists need to know.
Warmest Regards,
Mary Bruns
