Mayor Les Peterson reported that the street closure of Ho Hum, adjacent to the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion from 8 AM - 2 PM each Friday through December of 2022 for the Carefree Farmers Market had helped the Farmers Market be a great success.   A lot of people have been coming.  The number of stands and the amount of goods have increased.
 
Steve Prokopek noted that the investigation into closing the street started when the pandemic required outdoor activities to allow growth.  A better Farmers Market experience was being evaluated, taking the spaces on either side of Ho Hum and making them available for events, including the Farmers Market.  He encouraged the Council to renew the Friday street closure through December, 2023.  The Farmers Market starts at 9 AM and ends around 1 PM during the season.  It starts a bit earlier in the summer, 8 AM - noon.  There are a lot of great goods for sale.
 
The motion to renew the street closure through December of 2023 was unanimously approved.

The attorney representing Release Arizona, the company that bought Bashas from the Basha family, was requesting approval for a change of the liquor license agent for Bashas #66 to Michael Joseph Basha.  She said there would be no change in the store's use or operation.  All the employees will remain the same.  The new owner is a family owned grocery store currently existing in California.  California has stricter liquor license rules, which the new owners have been complying with for decades.
 
Kandace Contreras explained that this is a housekeeping measure.  It's just meeting the requirements of the state liquor board.  The change in the agent was approved unanimously.
