Here are your bonus rounds from Herbert. This link contains multiple links and 2 videos of Wheels & Wings. (Blue Host was again having problems and Herbert's photography website went down. I was waiting for it to be fixed so everyone could enjoy all these fabulous pics from the car & plane show last Saturday. The site just came back up. You now have a double helping of car pics. Betsy Lynn sent a bunch of great ones too for Pics of the Week.)

Lyn and Herb:
Your photos and videos captured the fantastic collection of cars and airplanes at Wheels and Wings. Les Hardie and his teams assembled an excellent display. SkyRanch airport never looked better. Betsy and I had a great time admiring cars, planes and wild flying drones. This was an especially well run event and exceptionally enjoyable.
Best regards,
John Crane

Hi Lyn and Herb:
It was so fun to see and photograph those beautiful automobiles at Saturday's Carefree Wings and Wheels Show. What a great turnout and everyone was having a blast. I hope this becomes an annual event. Who knew that Queen Elizabeth and Sean Connery would attend as well!!!

Hi Lyn - So proud of these teachers and the council for honoring them. I come from a family of teachers and can trace teachers in our family back to the 1700's. We honor teachers in our family, especially like the ones who were honored last Tuesday.

DESERT FOOTHILLS LIBRARY ANNOUNCES PENDING RETIREMENT OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
David Court, the Executive Director of the Desert Foothills Library has announced his intention to retire at the end of 2020.
David has been Executive Director since August 2010 and led the organization through a remodel of the Library, the construction of an additional parking lot and an expansion of services provided to the community. “This is a wonderful organization and I shall be sorry to stand down from my current role. However, both my wife and I will be retiring in order to take advantage of travel opportunities and to pursue our other interests. I hope that, in the future, I will be able to play a role in the continuing success of the Library.
Robert Hindle, President of the Library Board of Directors, has said, “David has been both a visionary and exceptionally effective manager. In a sense, he is irreplaceable, but the Board understands his desire to retire”.
A search for a new Executive Director will commence shortly and a handover period will ensure that the Library has continuity of leadership.
The Desert Foothills Library is an independently funded 501 (c) (3) non-profit which serves the whole Desert Foothills community. Open seven days a week, the Library offers culturally enriching lifelong learning programs, as well as providing a high quality public library. For more information or to make a tax-deductible donation, visit dfla.org or call 480-488-2286.

Hi Lyn,
To explain why I think the new hotel & condos don't fit with the Carefree life style as we've known it: I think the majority of the people buying
and wanting to live in Carefree are the people that want a house on a larger property than most gated communities or planned communities
offer. They've sacrificed some amenities for this life style as no sidewalks no mail deliveries, street lights etc but this is why we chose it . Carefree was different.
I understand the Town Council wanting tax dollars. But I think the decision to what kind of a Carefree do we want has to be determined. I don't think it can be both ways, wanting tax dollars from hotel/condos and keeping the small town feeling at the same time. The burden of a hotel and condos in a small area as the post office isn't realistic. Do we still want art fairs? There is no parking now on those weekends.
Also, I think I read that condo owners would be able to rent their condos..for any particular time frame...a week, a month..are there any
restrictions on rental length? I don't think I have to state the obvious of short time rentals or why owner-occupied is preferred.
Is the Hampton Inn going to offer landscaping and outdoor attractions fitting to a Carefree look? Is it going to be a lovely added attraction or just for housing people? Will it be a place that residents can stop for a drink or meet friends?
I guess I'm worried.

(Lyn's note: Hi Lois. Here is the Carefree Truth link with the info about the Hampton Inn. Yes, Hilton will be providing nice landscaping, and both the Inn and the townhouses will be adding sidewalks to the downtown. Hampton Inn will be open to the public if people want to meet there for a drink.
